We are presenting a rare case of the heterotopic gastric mucosa of the gallbladder. A 35-year-old woman presented with intermittent abdominal pain which was aggravated following fatty meals for a period of one year. The pain was colic in nature and located in the upper right quadrant without radiation to the back. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a hyperechoic polypoid lesion measuring 1.2 cm in size at the neck of the gallbladder. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopanvreatogram (ERCP) revealed a normal hepatic duct, common bile duct, pancreatobiliary union, but with a filling defect in the neck of the gallbladder. The patient underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for a symptomatic gallbladder polypoid lesion. The posroperative course has been uneventful and she was discharged three days after surgery. Histopathological examinations showed a gallbladder polypoid lesion, consisting of combined gastric fundic and pyloric mucosa in the gallbladder. |
