摘要
Two cases are reported of postoperative breast cancer patients with distant metastases, successfully detected by whole body FDG (2-[F-18]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose)-PET (positron emission tomography) scan. Tumor spreading or occult metastasis is still the main challenge either in precise detection or further therapeutic protocol. However, a prolonged span of life will be achieved if metastases are discovered and treated as early as possible. The absence of distinct clinical features of metastatic mass made the diagnosis difficult. High [18F]- Flurodeoxy glucose uptake in lesion sites permitted localization of cancer metastasis and the results of laboratory data or the cord tissue pathologic study confirmed the diagnosis. Our experience suggests that the FDG PET whole body scan might be able to diagnose recurrent breast cancer in selected cases.
