摘要 |
The variation of pure epidural cavernous hemangioma that extends through the intervertebral foramen, thus assuming a dumbbell shape and mimicking neurilemmoma, is rare. This investigationnpresents a 68-year-old man clinically manifesting progressive bilateral lower leg weakness and numbness, accompanied by difficulty with vesical sphincter control. Magnteic resonance imaging (MRI) indicated a dumbbell-shaped tumor in the epidural space at T2 spine level. The preoperative diagnosis was neurilemmoma. The tumor was surgically excised with an uneventful postoperative course. Significant improvement of his symptoms and signs was observed after the operation. Pathological examination revealed cavernous hemangioma. The follow-up MRI performed six months later revealed no tumor recurrence. Full muscle strength and intact sensation of bilateral lower extremities were also noted on the same day of MRI performance. |
