摘要 |
Intestinal obstruction due to Meckel’s dieverticulum (MD) is a rare entity. Internal hernia caused by Meckel’s diverticulum is rare and is a serious condition. It is seldom diagnosed preoperatively. MD can cause intestinal obstruction in several ways: intussusception, herniation, kinking or volvulus. We present 3 male cases of internal hernia caused by MD. They all presented with acute onset of abdominal pain, symptoms of intestinal obstruction, signs of peritonitis and radiological features of mechanical ileus. None had received abdominal surgery before. All of them recovered smoothly after reduction of the herniated loops of the intestine and diverticulectomy. Early laparotomy of mechanical ileus of an “unknown etiology” and early diagnosis of internal herniation will guarantee good prognosis. |
