摘要
Perforation of the uterus by an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) is a common complication. Migration of IUD can involve several neighboring organs such as urinary bladder, small bowel, sigmoid colon, rectum and even ureter. Herein we report the case of a 40-year-old woman in whom a Copper-T IUD produces uterine perforation and subsequently contributes to ureteral obstruction. Urinary diversion with percutaneous nephrostomy was initially performed to relieve obstruction and to preserve residual function of the affected renal unit. But nephrectomy was finally executed. Only three cases of ureteral involvement by a migrated IUD have been reported in the literature.
