摘要 |
A 49-year-old man complained of shortness of breath during exertion over a 3-month period. Chest X-ray revealed a giant tumor occupying his left hemithorax. The left lung, mediastinal structure and aorta, were compressed and shifted by the tumor. Fine needle aspiration and broncho-alveolar lavage (BAL) produced a negative finding. Because of the huge intrathoracic tumor with persistent symptoms, a thoracotomy with resection of the tumor was performed. The resected tumor mass weighted 3000 g and measured 190×190×100 mm in size. According to the immuohistochemical and pathological findings, the final diagnosis was a malignant solitary fibrous pleural tumor. The postoperative course was good and the patient is now free of complaints. Radiological follow up is indicated for this patient. |
