Chondrosarcomas are the most common primary chest wall malignancy. We report
on a 17-year-old man with a growing mass in the left supraclavical region that
developed over 2 months. The mass appeared to arise from the left first rib,
extended to the second rib and second vertebral body, and demonstrated local
invasion of the left upper lung. The mass compressed the left subclavian vessels and brachial plexus. The tumor was removed radically as a superior sulcus tumor. A transmanubrial approach was used to preserve the sternoclavicular junction and clavicle, and tumor resection was performed. The histopathological diagnosis was a low-grade chondrosarcoma. There was a rapid recovery of daily activity, and no recurrence has been observed during the 6-month follow-up. |
