摘要 |
Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) usually presents in the subacute phase of trauma, and only rarely in the acute phase. A 17-year-old female suffered from a gunshot injury on the right side of her neck, and presented with carotid-jugular AVF with brain insufficiency immediately thereafter. Emergency surgical repair of the interrupted carotid artery and torn internal jugular vein was performed. Brain infarction and a mass effect occurred 48 hours later, and she underwent craniectomy for decompression therapy. The patient recovered reasonably well after 3 years of follow-up. Early recognition and early correction of the vascular lesion should help to rescue the patient and lessen the neurological complications. |
