摘要 |
Human pulmonary dirofilariasis is a rare enzoonotic infection caused by a dog
heartworm, Dirofilaria immitis. We herein report a human case of pulmonary
heartworm disease in a male, clinically mistaken for an early lung tumor. The
clinicoradiographic characteristics, diagnostic approaches, and surgical treatment of
the disease are reviewed. Surgical resection via video-assisted thoracoscopy followed
by pathological examinations is highly recommended for both diagnosis and
treatment. The solitary, peripherally located, coin-like or ovoid pulmonary nodular
lesion, measuring between 1.0 and 3.0 cm in diameter, and the geographic area with
endemic enzootic canine dirofilariasis are important factors for the diagnosis of the
disease. |
