Dedifferentiated liposarcoma occurs in up to 10% of cases of well differentiated
liposarcoma with non-lipogenic sarcoma components. Among the heterologus
components, osteosarcoma is very rare. We report a 32 year-old man presenting with
sudden onset of abdominal pain. Computed tomography revealed a huge
intraabdominal mass with solid/cystic and fat components as well as areas of
calcification/ossification. Histological examination showed well differentiated
liposarcoma, high-grade liposarcoma with areas of heterologus differentiation,
including malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH)-like, chondrosarcomatous and
osteosarcomatous components. Dedifferentiated liposarcoma was diagnosed. After
operation, the patient has been regularly followed up every half a year. No
recurrence has hither to been noted for one year. |
