We present a case of a 59-year-old man who showed a 5.5x3.0x3.0 cm, well-defined
mass in the left breast. Tumor excision was performed and final pathological
diagnosis was breast myofibroblastoma. To the best of our knowledge, less than 100
cases of breast myofibroblastoma have been reported in the English literature.
Breast myofibroblastoma is an uncommon benign tumor arising from the breast
mesenchyma and tends to occur in middle-aged to elderly men and post-menopausal
women. Tumor excision is the treatment of choice and no recurrent or metastatic
cases have been reported. The surgeons and pathologists should keep in mind this
rare entity when making differential diagnosis of a solid tumor of the breast in order
to prevent overdiagnosis and unnecessary radical operations.
