摘要 |
5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) has been the standard drug to treat inflammatory
bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis, for many years. However, several cases of
nephrotoxicity caused by 5-ASA have been reported. We report a 29-year-old male
who had received 5-ASA for ulcerative colitis for about eight months before developing
oliguria and pitting edema with sudden onset. There was no other history of
disease or medication use. The histopathology revealed the membranoproliferative
glomerulonephritis. After stopping the use of 5-ASA and replacing treatment with
prednisone for three weeks, the patient recovered well without impairment of renal
function. |
