摘要 |
Acute traumatic hernia of the abdominal wall is an unusual case. A 33 yearold female who presented with an abdominal mass following blunt abdominal injury as the result of a motorcyclt: accident is described. Physical examination and abdominal computerized tomography (CT) scan suggested disruption of her abdominal wail. Immediate laparotomy confirmed herniation of the left colon subcutaneously from rupture of the transversalis fascia and the anterolateral abdominal wall musculature. Reduction of the herniated bowel with repair of the hernial defect was followed by a smooth recovery. Although blunt trauma to the abdominal wall resulting in a hernia remains quite rare, the importance of increased awareness of such an entity, following blunt injury, should be emphasized. Diagnosis is easily made by the presence of local pain, bruising and a reducible abdominal mass. Because of the high incidence of other associated intra-abdominal injuries, early exploration is advocated. |
