摘要
Ventral hernia is a common type of abdominal wall hernia, but ventral hernia
developing after blunt abdominal trauma is rare. This report describes four cases of
traumatic abdominal wall hernia. Traumatic abdominal wall hernia is often
associated with serious intra-abdominal injury. The indication for laparotomy is
usually for treating associated injuries rather than the hernia itself. Primary repair
for an abdominal wall defect with nonabsorbable sutures is advised when feasible.
This report highlights the possibility that abdominal wall hernias must be considered
in all patients following abdominal trauma. The first priority in treating such
patients, however, is the evaluation and management of associated and perhaps lifethreatening
injuries.
