摘要 A retrospective analysis of 214 patients who underwent 217 transurethral ureteroscopic procedures using smaller caliber rigid ureteroscopes for ureteral stone management or diagnostic procedure is reported. Three types of rigid ureterorenoscopes with diameters of 6.0F, 7 .5F and 8.0F, respectively, were used. The over-all success rate of stone removal in the lower third ureter was 94. 7% (126 of 133) and for u~per and middle third, was 88. 5% (54 of 61). The major complication rate in all 194 stone manipulations was 0.5% (1 small hole ureteral perforation); the minor complication rate was 8.7% (5, fever >38.5 C; 7, hematuria; 5, colic pain for more than one day). The mean operation time of lower third ureter lithotripsy was 33.3 minutes; for the upper and middle third it was 50.5 minutes. As a diagnostic procedure, the success rate was 95. 7% (22 of 23); the mean operation time was 21.6 minutes, and there was no major complication. Results showed that smaller caliber rigid ureteroscopy was an effective, safe and timesaving procedure for both therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
