摘要 |
Surgeries for stress urinary incontinence are not always uneventful. Various
complications have been reported. A case of stitches and stones in the urinary bladder after surgery for myoma uteri and stress urinary incontinence is reported. A 43-year-old female developed recurrent and persistent urinary tract infection after gyneco-urological surgery cited above. KUB film showed some calcified shadows in the pelvic cavity. Cystoscopy revealed two stitches with stone encrustations around the urethrovesical junction, also the bladder neck was divided by a pillar-like structure into a larger and a smaller lumens. The stitches as well the stones were removed endoscopically with a combination of a TUR resection loop and foreign body forceps. The patient soon recovered and her urine became sterile postoperatively. Follow-up cystoscopic examinations three months and one year later demonstrated good healing of the previously injured bladder mucosa. There was no new stone formation nor new sporing stitches. To prevent such complications in surgery for stress urinary incontinence, a careful
cystoscopy at the1 end of the operation is extremely important and should be mandatory. Once the stitches and stones do present, a minimally invasive procedure may avoid the necessity of a more aggressive operation, reduce the morbidity and improve patient convalescence. |
