摘要 |
The use of liquid silicone injection for breast augmentation was prohibited
20 years ago but it is still present in Southern Taiwan. We report 2 patients
who developed breast cancer following liquid silicone injections. The clinical findings indicated that early cancer detection was obscured by the silicone-injected mastopathy, which rendered the interpretation of physical finding and mammograms difficult. In view of these 2 patients and other similar case reports, we anticipate more cases of advanced breast cancer because of delayed diagnosis and most victims who are now reaching the age of peak incidence for breast cancer. Therefore, we advise that subcu-taneous mastectomy be recommended to these patients having breasts inspissated with liquid silicone, who not only have suspicious masses but present with high risk history of breast cancer. |
