摘要 |
Between January 1993 and August 1995, 314 gallbladder stone specimens were quantitatively analyzed for their chemical compositions by the infrared absorption spectrophotometric method. They were classified into five categories according to their major chemical composition: I. Choles-terol stones, one hundred and ten cases or 35%; II. Calcium bilirubinate stones, one hundred and twenty three cases or 39.2%; III. Calcium stearate stones, thirteen cases or 4.2%; IV. Calcium carbonate stones, forty six cases or 14.6%; V. Calcium phosphate stones, twenty two cases or 7.0%. Results in this study demonstrate that the incidence of cholesterol stone was 35%. This is lower than the 43-56% reported by other hospitals in Taiwan. The reason is that Changhua is primarily an agricultural county, having a less-westernized lifestyle. Pure cholesterol stones only comprised 28% of gallstones in this study. The relative incidence of pure cholesterol stones decreased with age. As Taiwan westernizes its dietary habits, pure choles-terol gallbladder stone will likely increase. |
