Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the pancreas is rare, and metastasis to the
pancreas from non-hematologic neoplasms is unusual. We hereby report a case of
metastasis to the pancreas from primary squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue
presenting as a pancreatic cyst. The patient initially suffered from left upper
abdominal pain and was suspected of recurrent pancreatitis attacks. A further
survey revealed an 8-cm cystic lesion involving the pancreatic body and tail. He
underwent operation and the tumor was successfully removed en bloc with subtotal
pancreatectomy and splenectomy. Final pathologic reports proved the lesion to be a
squamous cell carcinoma, most probably from primary squamous carcinoma of the
tongue. The patient recovered well and subsequent chemotherapy was undertaken.
