Pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis (PLAM) is a disease mainly affecting women during child-bearing years. It has the clinical manifestations of chylothorax, pulmonary hemorrhage, bullous emphysema with recurrent pneumothorax, and eventual respiratory failure, Characterized by the proliferation of the smooth muscle cells throughout the lung, it should be discriminated from tuberous sclerosis. Herein we report a case of PLAM who suffered from bilateral recurrent pneumothorax, and underwent diag-nostic and therapeutic procedures using videothoracoscopic surgery. This procedure can give patients with thoracic diseases minimal trauma and also achieve more reliable diagnosis, as well as effective treatment. |
