UInar dislocation of the extensor tendon over the metacarpal-phalangeal joint is
an unusual problem in patients without rheumatoid arthritis. During the last 4
years, we managed 6 patients with this problem including 5 acute and 1 chronic
cases. All these patients were male. A total of five middle fingers and one index finger were involved. All cases were diagnosed at this hospital. Repair of the torn sagittal band was the primary procedure on the five acute patients. For the chronic case, a reconstruction procedure was performed using a flap of the
extensor tendon. All patients received short arm splint immobilization in the full extension position for three weeks. No recurrence of dislocation was noted in this series, and all patients regained full range of motion without pain within 6 months of follow-up. |
