Myoepithelial hamartoma or adenomyoma of the gastrointestinal tract is a rare disease, which accounts for only 1.5% - 4.5% of all small bowel tumors. We reported a case of a 76-year-old female patient with intestinal obstruction and abdominal pain due to adhesion of the small bowel to an ileal tumor, which was revealed later to be a myoepithelial hamartoma. Underreporting is probably the main reason accounting for the rarity of this disease, which should be considered to be a rare cause of intestinal obstruction. |
