Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital abnormality of the small intestine were about, 4 to 6 % of the patients have the risks of developing complications during their lifetime. We present the case of a 17-year-old boy who had suffered from cramping abdominal pain for about 2 days. No definite diagnosis was made and only conservative treatment was given. The patient received an emergency exploratory lapartomy due to acute exacerbation, which revealed volvulus of the small bowel around a long Meckel's diverticulum with gangernous perforation. The involved segment was resected and the patient became symptom free after operation. We presented this unusual complication of Meckel's diverticulum and reviewed the literature. |
