Buerger's disease is an inflammatory and thrombo-occlusive vascular disease which usually involves the small and medium-sized arteries and veins of the distal extremities of young male smokers. Occasionally, cerebral, mesenteric, coronary and other arteries may also be involved. Myocardial infarction, as a clinical feature, is an extremely rare event in Buerger's disease. The realtionship between myocardial infarction and Buerger's disease is still not very clear. Smoking is the well recognized precipitating factor for Buerger's disease, particularly plays one of the most important risk factors for myocardial infarction in young adult patients with Buerger's disease to rule out coronary artery disease. |
