摘要 |
Foot complications of diabetic patients were serious problems to deal with. Autonomic neuropathy played a major role in developing these complications. By measuring the electric resistance of foot skin, we were able to evaluate the sweating function of foot, which was in turn a function of peripheral autonomic nervous system.
Twenty patients with diabetic foot were enrolled in the experimental study. The control group consisted of the same number of nondiabetic patients. Dermatron Skin Resistance Meter (Raymar Electronics) was used to measure the skin electric resistance over plantar surface of sole, first metatarsal head and 5th metatarsal head. The average electric resistances of the experimental group were all >200 mΩ and 57.25 mΩ, 69.13 mΩ, and 60.03 mΩ respectively in control group, p< 0.05. The electric resistance of foot skin was significantly elevated in patients with diabetic foot problems. Further prospective studies are necessary in validating the role of measuring electric resisrance of foot skin in prodicting diabetic foot problem prospectively. This method is a simple and easy way for measuring autonomic sweating function of diabetic foot. |
