From Septmber 1992 through September 1998, 154 patients with Ota's nevus were treated using !-switch ruby laser (Derma Lase, DLR-I Ruby laser, from Lumonics, England), 694.3nm, 25n sec, 0-18 Joules/cm2, spot size 4 mm in diameter. Twenty-six patients were excluded from our analysis because they came to our out patient clinic for information about ruby laser, or no further treatments occurred after the test doses were given. We usually applied test doses using 6, 7, 8 and 9 Joules/cm2, and started treatment according to the test result 5 weeks after the test. Thirty-three patients are still undergoing treatment. Ninety-five patients have completed the treatments, and 14 had excellent results. Seventy-two patients had good results, seven had fair results and two had poor results. Thirteen patients developed hyperpigmentation after their first treatment or after the test doses. Three patients developed hypopinmentation. |
