摘要
Benign retroperitoneal schewannomas are rare in patients without von Recklinghausen's disease. There are several possible reasons for this condition. First, the tumor is slow growing. Second, retroperitoneal space is a region where expanding processes can attain considerable size before causing any symptoms. Third, the symptoms often are vague and by no means specific or characteristic. Thus, it often is neglected by the patient and can be excaped from clinical detection. Herein, we present a case of retroperitoneal schwannoma. Lumbar pain and anterior thigh numbness were the initial clinical signs of the massive tumor. The diagnosis was confirmed postoperatively by histological examination.
