It is tare that devascularization of the appendiceal artery occurs and causes hemoperitoneum after a blunt injury. This paper is a case report of a patient who sustained an abdominal injury as a result of a blunt assault. Urgent laparotomy was required for the acute abdominal bleeding and during surgery a devascularised appendix was also discovered. Pathology cofirmed hemorrhagic appendicitis. Although this is a rare consequnce of blunt trauma, in concept, it is not a different injury than mesenteric laccration and small bowel devascularization. When the patient complained of a viloent blunt abdominal injury and presented with right lower quadrant pain, posttraumatic appendicitis should be considered as a possibility.
