摘要
Tracheal surgery was performed on a 27-year-old femal for airway obstruction caused by a pleomorphic adenoma of trachea. She presented the symptom of exertional dyspnea. Serial evaluation including chest X-ray, bronchoscopy and computed tomogeraphy showed a polypoid endoluminal mass at the middle portion of trachea resulting in total airway obstruction. Endoscopic biopsy or debulking was not adopted for the fear of uncontrolled bleeding. Segmental resection of trachea with end-to-end anastomosis was performed smoothly. The pathology revealed a rare, benign pleomorphic adenoma. She remained symptom free and the follow-up bronchoscopy did not show stricture or recurrence of tumor even after one year. In this paper, we report this unusual case and review the literature about the characteristics of tumors.
