Sarcoma of the brain is extremely rare. Treatment failure in most cases is due to local
recurrence or leptomeningeal seeding. We present a 16-year-old boy who harbored
primary intracranial fibrosarcoma, initially presented with intracranial hemorrhage.
Primary intracranial fibrosarcoma was diagnosed by immuocytochemistical examination
and serial systemic tumor survey. However, spinal seeding was noted even
after our active tumor removal, radiation therapy, and gamma knife surgery for
residual tumor directly connecting with the ventricular system. Here we discuss
primary intracranial sarcoma and leptomeningeal seeding. |
