摘要
Fecal peritonitis involving ischemic damage of the gastrointestinal tract following
aorto-iliac bypass surgery is uncommon and potentially fatal.
We report a 74-year-old male with a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).
Emergent aorto-iliac bypass surgery was performed after admission. Infarction of
the sigmoid colon and rectum occurred on the 4th postoperative day. Fecal peritonitis
was also noticed. Exploratory laparotomy was done. The operative findings
consisted of perforation of the sigmoid colon and ischemic change of the sigmoid
colon and rectum. Postoperatively, the patient recovered well. The relevant
literature is also reviewed.
