摘要	Knowledge about trauma is of paramount importance to surgeons practicing in our industrialized society. Trauma is the 3rd leading cause of death, and the productivity loss in Taiwan at least 200 billion NT annually. Most sutgeons at some time in their training or career are faced with the necessity to act decisively in the management of the traumatized patient. This has brought trauma into the lives of every surgical faculty member. To help our surgical faculty menbers understand and meet their professional responsibility, I’ll bring up three critical issues to discuss with you here.
